What I got out of St.Beuno’s retreat –

The short version:

I m not Big on silence, it was between this and a marathon to set my challenge for 2011.

I had coutnless comments: you must be joking – YOU and being quiet, most gave me a day and that was kind.

I think I picked the harder challenge. I was very sceptic about a Jesuit convent as my choice as I am not Catholic, but it came highly recommended. It is quite famous and fully booked after having been featured on ‘The big silence’ BBC2. I dove in completely, I opted out of any 1-2-1 guided sessions just used the last one to say thanks.

My Summery:

It is astounding what can happen when all your base needs are looked after. In an environment full of beauty and kindness. You and yourself.

I got vast insights into who I am – and I thought I new and was not looking for that.

I made peace with the past – which was not smooth sailing.

I felt gratefulness like never before. I preach this art to my clients for a living and practice it not just in daily meditation but as a way of life.

After some overcoming of obstacles, I put into the way to avoid diving into the unknown, I arrived.  I experienced what it is to ‘just BE’. It was very different to my 10 years of meditation experienced prior to this. As it was not a discipline in any way.

Having arrived:

I wrote and wrote and wrote – no not his blog I wrote this one a week after my return.

1^st What I want out of life 2 pages amazingly precise and my first guided work for the journey.

2^nd A letter to my husband – long overdue ( 4 years )

3^rd 10 page poem, 75 paragraphs – impressive work and a great healing process for me.

4^th a poem, which moved all fellow participants after out travelling mass, the only I participated in.

No idea where that came from – English is not my first language as you most likely have figured out by now, reading this

This is a good time to ask you for forgiveness, for all the spelling, grammar and all sorts of other mistakes I do hammering away on a laptop at 23.36 at night.

I painted and painted and painted

a childish crayon drawing – just to get the juices flowing – pretty rubish

1^st my son out of memory, water colors – I m not a painter and never liked portraits, as one has to capture what you do not see – I am too Germanic for that usually.

2^nd I had a tiny pic of my son on my camera album and I captured just what I needed to see, to not die missing him – his smile -.the visible and invisible one

3^rd I had a good bash at painting my husband, he first looked criminal, than ancient. After days of revisiting I got something – the twinkle in his eye maybe?
